Cookie Notice
A cookie is a small file a site stores in your browser. We use very few, and we do not use any of them for advertising or sell what they tell us to anybody.
Cookies we set without asking
These are the ones the site cannot work without, so they do not need your permission.
| Cookie | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|
laydn_consent | Remembers whether you accepted or refused analytics, so we stop asking. | 6 months |
wordpress_logged_in_…wordpress_sec_… | Keeps you signed in and proves it is really you on each page. | Session, or 14 days if you tick "remember me" |
_lscache_vary | Tells our server you are signed in, so you are never served somebody else's cached page. | Session |
laydn_show_splash | Plays the welcome animation once after you sign in, rather than every time. | Session |
| Cloudflare Turnstile | Checks a real person is filling in the sign-up or contact form, not a bot. | Set by Cloudflare, typically 30 minutes |
Cookies we only set if you say yes
Google Analytics tells us which pages get used and where people give up, which is how we decide what to fix. Nothing is stored and no identifier leaves your browser unless you accept. If you ignore the banner or refuse, we still get a rough page count with no cookie and nothing that identifies you.
| Cookie | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|
_ga | Google Analytics: tells repeat visits apart from new ones. | 2 years |
_ga_VZ63X5F9T8 | Google Analytics: keeps your session together as you move between pages. | 2 years |
Changing your mind
You can change your choice whenever you like — open the cookie banner again. Refusing is one click, exactly like accepting. You can also clear cookies in your browser settings, which resets the question.
Other companies your browser talks to
Some parts of the site are served from other companies: Google (analytics and fonts), Font Awesome (icons), and jsDelivr and Cloudflare (code libraries). They do not set cookies here, but loading a file from them means they can see your IP address, as is true of anything your browser fetches.
Asking us
If you want to know what we hold about you, or want it deleted, email martin@laydn.co.uk and we will sort it.
